CDI Bioscience is a biopharmaceutical technology company with a patented process that can dramatically increase the productivity of cells in the manufacture of therapeutic proteins. The Madison, Wis-based company's patented process, based on its RP Shift technology, encourages cells to routinely produce three to seven times more therapeutic protein than they normally would. The process controls cell metabolism, shifting a cell from replicative mode (division of a cell) to production mode (increased protein synthesis). Battelle Ventures and its affiliate fund, Innovation Valley Partners, were the sole investors in the $3-million Series A round. General Partner Mort Collins is chairman of the Board of Directors.
